Involvement

The education of the whole child is a cooperative effort between parents, teachers and students. Faculty, staff, members of the Board, and families work in partnership together to strengthen the school and its community.

We encourage you to actively participate in the classrooms, in schoolwide activities, and in the governance structure of the school. Volunteer opportunities for parents and staff include the following.

PTM (Parents and Teachers of Montessori)
Opportunities include:

  • - Volunteering to be a member of the PTM Executive Committee, made up of four parent members and a faculty liaison.
  • - Becoming a PTM Room Representative. At least one parent from each class volunteers each year to keep parents informed about school and class activities and events.
  • - Assisting with PTM events such as the fall and spring carnivals, Camp Montessori and Skate Nights.
Learn more about the PTM.

MIR Annual Spring Gala & Auction
Parents are the key to making this event a success! Volunteers are needed to plan, decorate, and gather donations. Learn more about the gala.

Board of Trustees
Board positions are held by parents, staff, and members of the community who are not otherwise affiliated with MIR. Parents and staff are encouraged to nominate persons they think would be effective Board members. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Learn more about the Board.

Donations and Funding
MIR offers parents several opportunities to financially support the school by making household purchases, business purchases, and/or providing donations. Learn more.

Chaperone Opportunities
Parents are asked to volunteer their time to drive and/or chaperone for class errands, field trips, and events.

Class Volunteers
Classrooms have a wide variety of opportunities for parents to volunteer their time and talents. Speak with your child's teacher to learn how you can help.
