Programs

Our Montessori trained teachers take great care to assess each child's academic, physical, social, emotional, and developmental progress. When a child has mastered his learning and social environment, the staff prepares to move the student to the next level. The AMI teacher training covers a wide range of ages at each level. There is considerable room for overlap, as Toddler teachers are trained to work with children as old as 3, Primary teachers are equipped to teach beyond a first grade curriculum and Elementary teachers are well-versed in the needs of the emerging adolescent. This allows us to move students from one level to the next when all the pieces are in place.

Students begin the transition process with visits to their new classroom. These visits can take place for a week, two weeks, a month or several months, depending on the needs of the child. Once the child wants to stay, he/she becomes a new member of the class. Students move when they are ready and are not limited to a new class change with the new school year. Transitions are a natural part of the Montessori program and are based on the developmental needs of the children, not on birthdates or curriculum.
